Greensboro’s White Oak Amphitheatre will be the site for the very best in beach music when it hosts the 2012 Flip Flop Beach Music Festival on Saturday, August 25 at 1:00 p.m (gates open at noon).
The afternoon/evening concert will feature an all-star line-up including Band of Oz, The Embers, Swingin’ Medallions, Eric and the Chill Tones and The Tams.
In conjunction with the Gate City Kiwanis Club, the 2012 Flip Flop Beach Music Festival is a charity event benefitting Operation Smile.

Band of Oz
Raleigh, North Carolina’s Band of Oz was formed in 1967 and has played most of the major beach concerts in the Carolinas, Virginia, and Georgia. The band now features a full horn section as part of its dynamic, eight-member group. The Band of Oz performs well over 200 shows per year for corporate events, festivals, concerts, wedding receptions, and many other public and private events.
The Embers
To say "The Embers play beach music" is an understatement. After 18 albums and numerous single releases, The Embers are one of the most popular and active groups in the country. The Embers boast an average of 250 dates per year all ranging from Toronto to Florida and westward to California, Hawaii and most recently South Korea.
Swingin’ Medallions
The Swingin’ Medallions, a 49-year Southern tradition, use their signature high-energy style to delight audiences of all ages. Featuring an ever-popular horn section, the group effectively blends the sounds and music of yesterday and today and their diverse repertoire has made them overwhelming favorites with college audiences as well as the more mature rock and rollers. The band was made famous by its 1.5 million selling hit album, Double Shot of My Baby’s Love, in 1966.
Eric and The Chill Tones
Focusing on 60's, 70's and 80's cover tunes and Carolina Beach Music, Eric and The Chill Tones will get the audience involved like you have never seen! Fronted by WFMY-TV news personality Eric Chilton, the Chill Tones play a wide variety of hits sure to delight fans of all ages.
The Tams
World renown for the special blend of music that makes up the Beach Music sound, the Tams entertain crowds around the globe nearly 300 days a year. Best known for their 1968 gold hit, "Be Young, Be Foolish, Be Happy", the Tams are celebrating the recent success of their newest single, "Ain’t Nothing Like Shagging", which reached No. 8 on the European charts.
